WHY FILES DIFFER

01 / EXPORT

Metadata can be complete, partial, or deliberately absent.

ComfyUI commonly writes graph data into PNG text chunks. Automatic1111 often stores a readable parameter block. Other tools may use XMP, C2PA, proprietary fields, or no reusable prompt record at all.

02 / RE-EXPORT

A platform copy is not the original record.

Editing, conversion, screenshots, and social-media processing can strip ordinary metadata. Keep the generator’s original output when reproducibility matters.

03 / PROVENANCE

C2PA is read separately from workflow metadata.

A signed Content Credential has cryptographic validation rules. A prompt or workflow field is ordinary application data. One does not validate the other.
